About the Author:
Joe W. Howell has lived on the banks of the North Umpqua for over 40 years. He owned and operated The Blue Heron Fly Shop for three decades and is a highly respected fly designer whose patterns are distributed by Umpqua Feather Merchants. Named Fly Tyer of the Year by the Oregon Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers in 1992, Howell has been featured in numerous books and publications. He lives in Idleyld Park, Oregon.
