Burkheimers 13 foot 4 inch 7 weight spey rod is one of our favorite all purpose two handers, equally capable of casting both Scandi and Skagit heads with ease. The rod is light in hand and can be cast and fished for days with minimal fatigue. If you are only going to have one rod in your quiver this is a great one to have. It excels for Pacific Northwest and British Columbia steelhead. At 13’4″ It fishes Scandi heads fantastically, and we love it for small wet flies, or dries, a Scandi, and some summer steelhead. But it also will handle a Skagit a throw a big intruder just fine.When it comes to big steelhead it has just enough backbone to get the job done, although if you can handle a heavier rod we would recommend it. That being said the 7134 is always close at hand and part of our year round quiver.
